History

BACKGROUND

In 1977, Bill Fenner, Mike Crawford and LTA founded Retail Property Projects, a company focused on retail property development projects in South Africa. Empowered to act independently, the company successfully concluded a number of projects and soon grew from strength to strength, expanding into other sectors of the property industry.

In 2000, during negotiations of the merger between LTA and Grinaker, the newly named RPP Developments (Pty) Ltd became a fully owned subsidiary of LTA and as a result later of Grinaker-LTA, an associate company of the listed Aveng Group. It was during this acquisition that Shane Walker joined RPP Developments as Financial Director from the Grinaker Group.

In 2004, Jock Seeliger and Alan Walker, both from Bridgeport Properties (Pty) Ltd, joined RPP Developments in the capacities of Managing Director and Projects Director respectively. They brought with them a wealth of experience in all sectors of development and ensured the continued existence of the company into the future.

In 2006, following 29 years of devoted service to the company he co-found, Mike Crawford retired from RPP Developments.

Subsequently, the directors made the decision to purchase back a majority share in the company from Grinaker-LTA, but maintain their status as an associate company and continue their close knit relationship with the group through representation on its board of directors.

RPP Developments has truly stood the test of time in an unforgiving and sometimes volatile sector of the South African economy, and through its director's long term approach to property and its development, will be around for years to come.
